A Hocus Pocus Halloween

Wow! It’s been over a year since I posted here, and this post is a bit delayed. However, I put a lot of time and effort into decorating for Halloween this year. So, I thought this might serve as inspiration for someone else in the future.

I’ve always loved the movie Hocus Pocus, and if I’m being honest I watch it at all times of the year. This year I knew I really wanted to dive into a theme for my front door, and I landed on transforming the space into something fit for the Sanderson sisters.

Winifred Sanderson’s spellbook

I made the spellbook with a book safe I ordered from Amazon, Mod Podge, acrylic paint, puffy glitter paint and Model Magic modeling material.

Do you remember the scene when Billy’s hand gets trapped in the man hole cover? The fingers were also made with Model Magic and acrylic paint. I also used artificial nails and painted them black. Let me know what you think. Hope you had a happy Halloween!

Front Porch Halloween Decor

Welcome to my favorite time of year! This is the first Halloween in the new house, and I wanted to really make it special. This year I decided to go with a theme. I’m calling it a “Cozy Witch Corner”. A perfect place for a witch to float her hat, stir her cauldron and stash her transportation (broom).

This was so fun to put together, and I think I’m going to attempt a new theme each year to keep it interesting. I love the way everything turned out.

The crows protect our little tree, and it’s where the witch sleeps during the day.

I love the moon eyes on the tall white pumpkin and how it coordinates so well with the little black pumpkin with white stars. The lantern and flameless candles really add a magical twist.

Is it weird that I just want to hang out on the front porch?! I love the little bats and the big spider greeting you above the door as you come in (if you dare). The spooky sign and banner are pieces that I’ve had for years. The sign came from Joann’s and the banner was a dollar bin find at Target a few years ago. I’ve had to shorten it since this photo because we had a lot of wind a week or so ago. I layered the sign over a metal wreath that I already had on the door.

I hope you’ve enjoyed a look at my spooky front door. If I missed linking any pieces below, send me a message!
Happy Spooky Season!
