Happy Friday, friends! Today is my birthday. Where does the time go? This time last year I was still living happily in Florida. Today, I'm an Austinite. And, it's really official because I have the car registration and driver's license to prove it.

In honor of my birthday (& Drake's new album..have you heard it?), I thought I'd share a cute weekend outfit + fun DIY project. I picked up this outfit a couple weekends ago in Florida. Ladies, stop complaining about how you can't wear rompers. You're beautiful. It's one piece of fabric, add some cute sandals or wedges and you instantly look ready for spring. We're talking easy fashion here.

One thing you must know about me is that I'm all in favor of DIY. Sure, I've had some Pinterest fails, haven't we all? But, I love creating. Succulents are on every page of interior design magazines. They add a fresh pop of color to your space. However, buying a previously curated planter can really set you back. Once you have all the supplies, there's no reason you can't do this yourself.

Here's what you'll need:

Succulents (a variety looks best for grouping)
Miracle Grow Cactus, Palm & Citrus Potting Mix
Containers/planters (i.e. anything - mason jars, old coffee cans, traditional terracotta..)
Decorative rocks

Here's what to do:

Add rocks to the bottom of your new planter. It's important for the soil to drain properly to achieve succulent success! :)
Next, add a bit of potting mix.
Remove your succulent(s) from the plastic container, and loosen up the soil just enough to shape into the new planter.
Place succulent(s) into the new planter and top the remaining space with potting mix.
Cover the soil with decorative rocks for contrast.

WAH-LAH! A cute succulent planter is born. Be sure to water as directed on your original containers. These make great gifts or additions to your desk at work. I can't promise they'll live, but we can all try to achieve our green thumb status together.
